Fazenda Tres Rios

Hélio, a civil engineer from Rio de Janeiro, inherited part of his grandfather’s farm, Fazenda Piedade, in Sul de Minas in 1968. Seeing coffee’s potential, he expanded into the high and flat lands of Cerrado Mineiro, naming the farm “Três Rios.” His business acumen and technical expertise helped modernise both properties.

Always thinking about the future, Hélio encouraged his children—Júlio, Luciana, Cláudia, and Eunice—to engage in coffee cultivation. Inspired by their father’s passion, they took over the farm's management. Since Hélio’s passing in 1999, the family has continued his work, honoring his legacy while striving for excellence.

They have remained focused on innovation, investing in new structures, advanced techniques, and quality improvements. Enhancements such as patio expansions, upgraded equipment, worker training, and educational programs help ensure high-quality coffee production at a significant scale. Fazenda Três Rios also prioritizes sustainability, maintaining its own compost production for the past three years, significantly reducing the need for chemical inputs. To improve soil health and pest control, they plant a “covering mix” between coffee rows, nourishing and protecting the land while preventing diseases. Additionally, coffee plantation renovations focus on rust- and nematode-resistant varieties.

Beyond coffee, Três Rios is dedicated to environmental preservation, maintaining a native forest area of 356.37 hectares—more than 50% of the property.

Today, Olga Maria’s family cultivates multiple varieties, including Acaiá, Catucaí, and Arara, across 345 hectares. Their harvest runs from May to September, using natural, pulped natural, and fully washed processes. At 1,050 meters altitude, they produce 8,000 bags annually and hold certifications such as Rainforest Alliance, C.A.F.E Practices, and Gerações Level 3.
