Fazenda Morada Dos Passoros

Morada dos Pássaros is a natural-process coffee from the Campestre region of Sul de Minas, Brazil, produced by third-generation coffee farmer Wanderley Franco.

The farm’s name, *Morada dos Pássaros*, translates to *“home of the birds,”* a fitting tribute to the abundant and diverse birdlife found throughout the area. This connection to the surrounding environment is reflected in Wanderley’s approach to farming, with a strong focus on sustainability, soil health, and protecting the natural habitat.

Wanderley comes from a long line of coffee farmers, and he and his family have invested significantly in improving their coffee production. This includes upgrading processing equipment, renovating drying patios, and creating dedicated storage for individual lots. Keeping lots separate throughout processing and storage allows them to maintain traceability, preserve the individual character of each lot, and have greater control over quality from harvest through to export. These investments reflect the family’s continued focus on producing high-quality specialty coffee.

In the cup, the coffee is consistently driven by high sweetness, rich caramel character, and excellent body. It has the familiar chocolate and nutty notes we look for in a classic Brazilian natural, while a fresh stone fruit note add brightness and another layer of complexity.

Morada dos Pássaros is a great example of the work Wanderley and his family are doing to bring greater quality and consistency to their coffees, while maintaining a strong connection to the land and the environment that surrounds the farm.
